Donating Blood

We do not recommend donating blood while on the Optimal Weight 5 & 1 Plan®. It is best to wait until you are no longer in the weight loss phase of the Optimal Weight 5 & 1 Plan before donating blood. This is because it will be difficult to replace blood cells and fluids lost when you are on a lower calorie diet. You can start donating blood once you’ve reached your weight loss goal and have shifted to a higher calorie meal plan.

If you are on the Optimal Weight 4 & 2 & 1 Plan® or Optimal Weight 5 & 2 & 2 Plan®, it may be acceptable to donate blood; however, we recommend you discuss this with your healthcare provider prior to doing so.
